College library

A total number of 35993 (Thirty Five Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Three) text and reference books are available in the Library. Out of which 13,921 (Thirteen Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty One ) books are meant for +2 stream and 22,072 (Twenty-two Thousand Seventy Two) books are meant for +3 streams. Besides the text and reference books 225 journals are available in the library. There are two separate reading rooms for +2 and +3 students. The capacity of +3 reading room is hundred and +2 reading room is 50.

Library Rules

  1.  The staff and students of the j.k.b.k college and j.k.b.k Junior college and other persons specially permitted by the principal j.k.b.k Govt. College may use the library.
  2. The library is kept open from 10.30a.m to 4.30p.m transaction relating to issue and return of books is carried out between 11.30a.m. To 3.30p.m.
  3. The library remains closed on Sundays   and authorize holidays.
  4. Library cards are issued to the students at the beginning of the session on production of the identity card.
  5. Library cards are not transferable.
  6. Loss of library card will deprive the student of his right to borrow books. Loss of the library  card must be immediately reported to the library  A duplicate card may be issue against  the lost card on payment of Re. 1.00
  7. Books will be issued on the presentation of the library card along with the list of books a student wishes to borrow in order of preference .No book shall be taken out of the library without the knowledge of the librarian and until it that been properly entered in the loan register and entry is signed by the borrower . Members of the staff (teaching & non teaching) may take the books from the library on signing a loan register.
  8. Each borrower must examine the condition of the books before they are taken out of the issue counter. In case of mutilation discovered later  the responsibility will be  of the borrower and the cost  of the book with fine be realized  from him
  9. Book will be returned within the period allowed to a borrower. Students may keep books for two weeks and members of staff for thirty days.
  10. When the date for return of a book falls due on an authorized holiday, it should be returned to the library on the date the college opens after the holiday.
  11. All books belonging  to the library  and in the possession of the borrower shall be returned to the library before the college close for the long vacation or on the date notified for the purpose
  12. Students are not allowed to keep the library books with them during summer vacation and after test/Annual Examination.
  13. If a student is allowed by special permission  from the principal  to keep the library books after the test  examination, he shall  have to return the library  books before accepting the admit card of the Council or University examination. Admit cards of such students shall not be issued until he returns the library books.
  14.  Students leaving the college before council or University examination or discontinuing their students at any time shall have to return the library books otherwise their TC will not be issued.
  15.   If a borrower keeps a library book in his /her possession from more than the times allowed for the purpose, no more books will be issued to him/her until the book concerned is returned to the library with appropriate fine.
  16.  In the case of students who do not return library books within the allowed time of two weeks a fine of 50 paisa per day per book will be charged for each day of delay. The librarian shall send the list of defaulters on the 5th day of every month. For regular defaulters action will be taken by the principal as per his discretion.
  17.  A student should always present his library card whenever he wants to borrow or return books.
  18.  Improper use of the library books such as tearing pages removing pages and pictures, writing on the margin, disfiguring the pages by erratic writing etc. shall be viewed seriously.
  19.  The Library will report to the principal the names of persons (students and members of the staff) responsible for the improper use of the library books. In such cases the borrower has to replace the books damaged by him. If replacement is not possible the borrower has to pay the cost of the book along with penalty.
  20. Perfect is to be maintained inside the library premises All conversations except what is absolutely necessary for the transaction of library business is forbidden inside the library
  21. The library premise should not be used for any purpose other than reading, writing and consulting books and journals.
  22.  Spitting, smoking, sleeping, inside the library and putting one’s legs on furniture are strictly forbidden.
  23.  None but members of the teaching staff and other college staff may go inside the library. Persons who might get special permission from the principal may also go inside the library.
  24. The following is the  list showing the maximum number of books that  be issued  to the various class of

(a) Teaching staff           10 each
(b) Class iii staff              3each
(c) Class iv staff              1 each
(d) Students:

i) B.A. (pass) 2 each
ii)B.A.(Hons.) 3 each
iii)+2 courses 1 each

    •  A book once issued to a borrower many be reissued to him only when no other borrower demands it.
    • Books  of reference, map, text books, University calendars, university question papers, current issues of periodicals course of study  and rare books shall not be issued for use at home without the special permission of the  principal.
    • Journals and magazines may be issued to the students for reading in the reading room on the production of identity card. The identity card will be returned to the student only after the journal or magazine is returned to the librarian periodicals may be issued to members of the staff for ovemight study.
    • Prescribed text books shall be issued only to the members of teaching staff of the concerned subjects and not to the other members of  staff or the student.
    • The seminar Library –Cum reading room is exclusively meant for Honours students,  who may borrow reference books add books specificall meantfor  them on call slips these  books should be  returned to the librarian before te borrower leaves the reading Room.
    • A person who uses  the  library  is supposed to read the library rules and  to have agreed to abide by them. Lgnorranceof these rules of the breach these rue are of no xcuse.
    • Matters not covered under these rules or any controversy arising out of the interpretation of these rules will be referred to the principal, J.K.B.GOVT COLLEGE, , Whose decision shall be final.
